Energy Burst

Class Summary: Energy in terms of physics works a little different than biological energy. In this course, children will learn all about energy transfer and conversion. They will be taught the differences between potential energy and kinetic energy and how each of the two play a vital role in the world of physics and in our everyday lives. The students will get to use tons of cool objects to help with this learning experience including poppers, Boinks, frog splat balls, and jumping bugs.

Educational Value: This course introduces students to the concept of energy and the law of conservation of energy. Students will learn about this topic through the exploration of both stored energy and motion energy. They will get the opportunity to participate in several hands-on experiments, including one where they learn about gravitational pull by attempting to lift objects against the force of gravity. At the end of the course, the children will get to assemble and take home their very own energy-storing catapult!

This class includes the following experiments and activities:

Reach Your Potential

Stretchy Science

I Need to Unwind

Pop, Jump, Flip!

Pullbacks and Rollbacks

Let’s Convert Energy

Great Gravity

Catapult
