Class Summary: In this course students will explore several scientific concepts revolving around the notion of force, including Sir Isaac Newton’s law of inertia. With the help of instructors, children will conduct experiments using the concept of gravity. One of the experiments includes a comparison between rubber balls and dough balls to see how scientific forces are able to affect the two objects.
Educational Value: This course introduces students to the world of physics by teaching them to explore the concepts of gravity, inertia, and centripetal forces. The children will learn that forces are defined by both pushes and pulls and that objects often stay in motion until a force such as a push or pull intervenes. Ultimately this course lays the groundwork for more in-depth physics lessons.
This class includes the following experiments and activities:
Center of Gravity
Gyroscope Bike Wheel
Twist and Turn
