Class Summary: Summer, spring, fall and winter; the weather seems to change right along with the seasons, but what’s the science behind all these temperature changes? During this class students will wise-up on weather concepts through a variety of experiments and activities. The children will get to act as meteorologists throughout the course as they study the effects of air on the weather and the ultraviolet light from the beaming sun. They will also get to work in groups to create their own rain.
Educational Value: This class will teach students how and why different types of weather occur. Through hands-on experiments and demonstrations, students will learn about the positioning of the Earth and how the rotation causes changes in the seasons. Children will also learn all about the water cycle and how clouds and rain is formed. In addition the children will get to try out a number of measurement tools used by real meteorologists, to help with some of their weather based experiments.
This class includes the following experiments and activities:
The Reason for Seasons
Air is Everywhere
The Water Cycle
Global Weather Report
Thunder and Lightening
