What Causes the Wind to Blow?
Wind is simply air moving across Earth’s surface. We tend to think of the wind as having a horizontal movement through the air, but in reality it is vertically-oriented as well. The main factor that determines weather conditions and wind speed is the vertical component. What is it exactly that causes this movement of air through the atmosphere? The answer lies in differential heating.
