For our virtual camp, we'll pack up a bag for you of science activities to do at home! Your Mad Scientist will lead campers in demonstrations and activities (about 60-90 minutes per day) and set them off on their discovery with science activities. Online portions conducted via Zoom. Children entering K and 1st will need assistance from a grownup at home. Have more than one student? You only need to register one, but be sure to add on an additional activity bag!

Your child's in for an action-packed week focused entirely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight! After learning the model rocket safety code, campers will build different types of rockets and watch exciting rocket launches. We recommend this camp for children entering 2nd - 5th grade; however, children entering kindergarten and 1st grade will enjoy it as well with a little more help from a grownup at home. Note: If you wish to for your child to launch their own rockets (with adult supervision), you will need to purchase a launch kit from an online source or hobby shop. All fueled launches during camp will be virtual.

Note: Descriptions in Additional Information are based on in-person full-day programs. Specific "Camp at Home" activities may vary.

Additional Information

Astronaut Training
This program will explore what makes rockets fly, the parts of a rocket are involved in flight, and how energy gets things moving! Campers will work in teams to launch rockets.
Go For Launch!
The final day in this week long program will focus on rocket transportation, rocket staging and advanced rocket launches. Campers will discover the advantages of rocket staging.
Mission Control
Campers will learn about the history of NASA’s rocket program and begin their exploration of the universe. Campers get to make their own Paper Tiger Rockets.
Mission Recovery
Rockets can travel into space but how are they propelled and how are they recovered? Campers will explore the concepts of propulsion and recovery systems through various hands-on activities. They will compare the features of different types of rockets.
Rocket Scientists
Campers will create a rocket journal to record all of their experimental data. They will learn the parts & functions of a rocket & the model rocket safety code. Children will build a bog-roll rocket.
