Girl Scout Workshops
For Daisies, Brownies, and Junior Girl Scouts
Daisy: Robotics 2: How Robots Move

Brownie: Home Scientist
A Mad Scientist will help Brownies explore science! They’ll create edible science by making their own ice cream. They’ll explore how static can really make things move. With dancing raisins, scouts will discover the wonders of density. Chemistry will help capture come carbon dioxide with just a couple ingredients. Brownies will make their own toy putty by concocting their own chemical reaction.
Brownie: Senses
Mad Science will help Brownies tune-up their senses. Girls will use their sense of sight to hone their observation skills. Sounds are all around, but what’s making that noise? Scouts will use their sense of smell to try to match up different scents. Sticking out their tongues will help them check out what makes their tasters work. Girls will test their sense of touch as they explore Braille.
Brownie: Space Science Adventure
Brownies discover the wonders of our solar system. Girls will work together to make a large scale model of our solar system. They'll put together some lenses and make their own space telescope. Brownies will work together to model the moon and its movement around the earth. They'll take a look at some constellations and then make their very own constellation design. Children will make some crazy sounds as they learn about how sound travels. Completes Steps 1 & 3. Address 4 & 5.
Junior: Mechanical Engineering: Balloon Car
The Mad Scientist will introduce the idea of kinetic and potential energy through demonstrations and activities. Our Mad Scientist will guide them through a basic design of a balloon car using materials like straws, cardboard, and balloons to give them a basic start. Girls will modify and test their designs.
Junior Space Investigator
As a group, the girls will measure out the relative distance of the planets in the solar system as well as use relative size balls to discover the relative size of the planets. In groups, girls will create their own 3D constellation and see how a constellation looks different depending on where in the galaxy you see it. Girls will make their own planisphere. Completes steps: 1, 3, 4
Mission: Nutrition
Children focus on nutrition and fitness, including the essential components of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
