Our After-School Program Themes
Encounter science that’s all around us! Discover animals— above and below water! Feel the force of energy and the might of motion in exciting physics explorations. Explore alternative energy sources, venture into the world of robotics, shake up a mixture, and experiment with telecommunication!
Excite your senses with a Mad Scientist and some electrifying laboratory experiments. Learn about electricity and make thunder and lightning indoors with our electro-static generator. What you see is not always what you get with our eye-popping optical illusions. Discover the wonders of color!
NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
NASA and Mad Science collaborate to educate the next generation! Children go on a voyage of discovery with unique hands-on activities, and amazing demonstrations that explore the sun and stars, space technology, rocket science, the atmosphere, planets and moons, and more!
Investigate all about bugs and how they can be helpful to our environment. Become a Mad Science detective as you discover how forensic science plays a central role in solving crimes. Learn about simple machines as you build your own rubber band powered car. Be a special effects expert and more!
Have fun with physics and Mad Science! Fly through flight and discover the four forces that affect flight. Make and test plane designs to see these forces in action. Act like junior architects and engineers! Test out shapes for strength and build a bridge. Create a whirlwind and much more!
Here's what parents have to say about our after-school programs!
Our son loves science! I am a high school science teacher and love that you give these opportunities for young kids! :)
Rancho Cordova, CA
My son has attended the Mad Science after-school programs every year starting from Kindergarten! We love how excited he has been after each class to tell us about the cool things his Mad Scientist did! We can't wait to do it again this year!
When I pick up my son from school on Fridays, his energy is different from any other day. Instead of the usual response to my questioning of his day's experience - "it was fine"- I hear an enthusiastic stream of science facts and stories of experiments. When we get home, he demonstrates what he's done with the kits Mad Science gives him to take home. Thank You Mad Science!!

What is your refund policy?
Refund requests made prior to the start of the program, a $10 processing fee will be deducted. Payments made directly to your child’s school are subject to the school’s refund policy. No refunds will be issued once the program has begun. Refunds will not be issued for classes missed by the child.+
When do I pay?
Payment is required at the time of registration. Mad Science accepts checks or credit cards (over the phone, on the registration form or through our on-line registration system).+
What is your class cancellation policy?
We will follow the inclement weather and school closure policy of the school/district in which we are instructing. We will work with the school to attempt to schedule a make-up class. We will inform you via email if a make-up class is scheduled.+
How many students are in a class?
Mad Science’s typical class size is 10-20 students per instructor.+
What's a waiting list?
If registration has filled at your child's school, your child may be placed on a waiting list. If space becomes available, we will contact you via email and let you know that you can register.+
Will the students be divided by grade?
The nature of Mad Science programs allows for grades K-6 to participate in the same classroom with one instructor. If we have multiple classes at one school, we may divide them by grade. But in most schools, the grades are mixed.+
